MOON

Are you interested in astronomy? It has attracted my attention in recent years. For some reason I think we are not alone in this universe. I bought a  telescope and started observing planets and the moon. Actually, my 16-year-old son’s curiosity led me to this subject. Moongazing is truly incredible. We were really excited to look at such a bright object. The craters are visible very clearly. The pictures I shared were taken with the camera we placed on the telescope lens. Isn’t it really incredible?

Planets are a little harder to see. They look the size of a tiny chickpea, but I cannot describe the excitement I felt when Saturn stood in front of me. While I was observing, a question came to my mind.

SATURN

JUPITER

While I was observing, a question came to my mind.

Why does humanity prefer Mars over Venus?

If you think about it, going to Venus is a lot easier and faster than going to Mars because it’s closer to Earth. So why don’t we go to Venus? Venus is the closest planet to Earth however, this doesn’t mean that it is similar as a planet. Venus’s atmosphere is a lot denser than Earth and it prevents sunlight from reaching its surface and causes Venus to reach up to 460 Celcius degrees. On the surface of Venus hydrochloric acid rains occur and it’s more severe than Earth’s acid rains. Venus’s surface temperature is considerably more than Earth’s average temperature and no known species can live at that temperature. On the other hand, Mars is the most similar planet to Earth in our solar system. We know there is water on and under Mars’s surface. However, the overall surface temperature is lower than Earth and it can be down to -100 Celsius degrees. Mars’s gravity is approximately %38 of Earth and its atmosphere is thinner than Earth but it can protect us from cosmic rays, and sun radiation. So we can say that going to Mars is way more reasonable rather than going to Venus.

My observations will continue. I don’t know if the idea that we are alone in space is true, but when we look at the sky, we can see the miracle.
