There are hundreds of places to visit and see in Turkey. Every region, every corner is beautiful, but among them there is a place where you feel like you are on another planet. An incredible natural wonder. UNESCO has declared this wonderful place in World Cultural Heritage List in 1985. It is a very characteristic region, shaped about 60 million years ago by the erosion of the ash and soft layer of the volcanic land by wind and rain water. The shapes formed over millions of years are so magical that people call these shapes fairy chimmney. In Turkish we call them peri bacaları .
People lived in them for a while. Some of them were used as churches. But I think the most interesting are the underground cities. These underground cities are just like graves. I think back then, people connected these tunnels and fairy chimneys without going out against dangers. When I tried to pass through them , I imagined thier conditions at that time. Horrible and seemed safe.
Another activity you can experience in Cappadocia is watching hot air balloons at sunrise every morning. Dozens of balloons take off one by one. A real visual feast. But nowadays they are very hard to afford them. Most of them take off with two or less people. Cappadocia gets very hot in summer. If you have a plan to visit there, you should be there in spring or autmn seasons. But it is beautiful in every season. It’s a very romantic place. It’s beautiful even under the snow in winter.
I visited very corner of Cappadocia but there is a place call Uçhisar I think the most mafnificent part of Cappadocia. It is the highest point of the region .There is a castle. People used to watch the region from this castle for protecting from the enemies.
