Imagine a place where many stray animals live in peace with humans. Dogs lying on the street, cats sleeping on beches, seagulls walking on the road instead of flying.
Here are the views you can always see on the streets of Istanbul.
They are so used to people that we can hug them and love them. People feed them with cat and dog food in their hands. Hundreds of thousands of cats roam the streets of Istanbul, take long naps on any comfortable surface, in cardboard boxes, on cars, on benches, on grass, in parks or in certain corners of neighborhoods, you will see people feeding stray cats and helping to build small houses for cats to shelter in during the colder months .
Are they harmful?
Not much but especially dogs if they roam in large numbers , some people like me sometimes afraid of this crowded dog population. You can see pink earrings on their ears. This means they are vaccined.
Is it normal to see many stray animals on the streets ?
My answer is no!
Sometimes I think that we can lose the control of the numbers of stray animals especially cats. Every year they birth and in each they can bring four or five kittens. Cats are everywhere. Dogs are every corner. Municipalities provide veterinary services for street animals, but dozens of them die or become disabled on the street every day.some of the people adopt animals from the street, but still most of them buy animals from pet shops .
What about your cities ?
