The eunuch was responsible for discipline, entry and exit, and confidential matters within the harem. The eunuch was also a key figure privy to the secrets of the sultan and palace politics.

VThe Spoonmaker’s Diamond is located in Topkapı Palace. It’s one of the most famous and beautiful diamonds in the world. It’s so large and brilliant that it can be seen in the palace’s Treasury. The diamond’s name comes from the fact that its discoverer was a spoonmaker. Legend has it that a sailor or spoonmaker discovered this diamond and brought it to the diamond palace. The Janissaries were the elite military unit of the Ottoman Empire. Their military training was rigorous and their discipline was extremely high.
